About Me

Hi there! I’m Kazuko, currently enjoying life in Barcelona. Despite being born and raised in Japan, my adventure into the world of cooking only kicked off long after I’d left Japan and set out on my global journey around 20+ years ago. Truth be told, I never cooked or even observed my mom in the kitchen during my time in Japan—I simply had no interest in it!

After spending many years abroad, however, a yearning for Japanese flavors led me to start cooking when our son was born in 2013. In my kitchen experiments, with lots of trial and error and the invaluable guidance of my dear mom, sisters, and friends in Japan, I crafted simple Japanese recipes using locally sourced condiments and ingredients.

I also enjoy hosting gatherings. With Japanese cuisine gaining popularity, inviting people over to savor my homemade Japanese dinners has become a wonderful way to make new friends, especially given our frequent relocations around the globe. Although many ask for my recipes, most are written in Japanese and tailored to my taste. Thus, I decided to share my recipes in English on this website.

I’m still not a fan of spending too much time or money on cooking. Embracing a minimalist approach in various aspects—condiments, ingredients, cooking utensils, kitchen space, etc.—I aim to showcase how to prepare some of the simplest yet widely loved Japanese dishes. So, please don’t feel overwhelmed; grab a bottle of soy sauce, and you’ll be surprised how versatile it can be. If I can do it, anyone can!

Good luck.
Best,

Kazuko
